Summer Beauty Faves: The Fantastic Four
Ahh Summer days. They're built for happy memories, finding water as much as possible, and cookouts. However, especially if you live in the South, Summer days are not all that great for your makeup. So many times I've completed my makeup routine, styled my hair, and walked outside to have the humidity wipe away most of my face, and leave my hair a giant ball of frizz. Well, we will discuss the hair another day, but for now I want to share with you my quick Summer beauty routine that has saved my sanity. Let's go!!
First Aid Beauty: Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer-
I received this product through Ipsy by redeeming some reward points I had saved up. Definitely a great decision. I'm always down to try new primers, because let's face it, primer is very important. It sets the mood for every other product we place on top of it. Anywho, I was super excited to try this primer/moisturizer. As I began to put it on my skin, I realized that it literally gave me coverage like that of a sheer foundation would. So I put up my foundation for the day, and proceeded from there. It really helps to not have to wear foundation all of the time, especially during the summer months. Plus, with my sensitive skin and oily tendencies in my T-zone, its the perfect match. Added bonus: it smells fantastic.
IT COSMETICS: Bye Bye Pores Pressed Anti-Aging Finishing Powder-
And Ipsy strikes again. Have I mentioned how much I love them? I also love IT cosmetics. I have tried a few products from them, including foundation and I've always been pleased. I've found that this powder is perfect for those hot and humid Summer days, because it helps to keep everything intact. It's also great for leaving a nice photo-finished look to your skin. Who needs a filter anyways?
City Color: Glow Duo-
This super affordable cream/powder highlight duo has been a definite fave of mine recently. Apply to your cheeks for a natural glow, and place a dab on your nose to give that fresh Summer shine. I will say, this highlight is way more subtle compared to my other highlight products, but that's what I love about it for this particular makeup routine.
NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP: Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray-
NYX has been the apple of my eye for quite some time now. Their prices and product quality keep me coming back consistently. Their matte finish setting spray is great for helping your makeup stay fresh, even in the summer heat. I've tested it time and time again. It's even great for when I dare to wear a full face of makeup on even the most humid summer day in South Carolina. Extra tidbit: apply a little to your makeup sponge to help blend in concealer and lock it in.
NYX Professional Makeup: 3-in-1 Brow Pencil- $12.99 at ulta.com.
NYX: Retractable Eyeliner in Black- $4.99 at ulta.com.
Benefit Cosmetics: BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara- $24.00 at ulta.com.
Urban Decay: Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette- $27.00 at urbandecay.com. I used shade Radar in this palette, but you can use any palette or eyeshadow shade of your choice. My main focus was to keep the warm tones flowing. Added tidbit: use a small angle brush, such as this one, to apply to the bottom of your eye for eyeliner. I've found it doesn't run as easily in the heat as normal eyeliner does, even waterproof.
Pixi by Petra: Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle- $12.00 at pixibeauty.com.
